Bill Paxton is joining Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto inspired BBC drama. Movie is based on the true story behind the creation of the hit video game and the fight between the creator and a Miami lawyer who wanted to ban video game violence.
Radcliffe will play Sam Houser, co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, which, as many of you already know, is the company behind GTA. Houser is had a huge hand in popularizing GTA and also pushed to amp up the violence quotient.
Paxton will play his rival, Jack Thompson, an activist attorney, who came after the game and attacked Houser and Rockstar Games. He became well known for “blasting media companies for pushing rap and sex onto the airwaves before turning his attention toward video games.” He was eventually disbarred in 2008 for using unorthodox methods and inappropriate behavior to get his point across.
The movie is based on a book by David Kushner called Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto. This project is getting interesting.
