Constantin Films is relaunching “The Mortal Instruments” as a drama series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They have hired Ed Decter, whose credits include “Helix,” “Unforgettable,” “In Plain Sight” and “The Client List,” as the showrunner for the series, which is expected to start production next year.
“It actually makes sense to do (the novels) as a TV series,” Constantin film and TV head Martin Moszkowicz said. “There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film. In the series we’ll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth.”
Directed by Harald Zwart, the big screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s novel stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, CCH Pounder, Jared Harris and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
