As you know, cars weren’t the only anthropomorphic characters in the first installment of the Cars franchise. In fact, there were trucks, trains, busses, combines that looked like cows and helicopters. Now there’s a new movie coming our way, and Disney teamed up with Pixar to make a film called ‘Planes’, For us, it might be something big as based on the track record of animated movies that their first part was epic as ‘Cars’ did for us but failed miserably in the ‘Cars2’ so here we go with another franchise to sell merchandise and wreck havoc to parents in terms of new lunch boxes, toys, and water bottles! But whatever the case it will be entertaining at first and a Franchise killer in the later part, so enjoy this while you can.
From high above the world of “Cars,” flies “Planes,” Disney’s upcoming animated action-packed comedic adventure starring Dusty, a big-hearted, fast-flying crop duster who dreams of competing in the most exhilarating around-the-world air race in history.
There’s only a couple of not-so-small problems – Dusty is not exactly built for racing and he also happens to be afraid of heights.
Despite his fear and with encouragement from his mentor, a naval aviator named Skipper, Dusty narrowly qualifies for the big competition. Dusty’s sportsmanship and speed begin to rattle the defending champ of the race circuit, Ripslinger, who will stop at nothing to see Dusty fail.
When disaster strikes during the climax of the final race, Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test. With the support of friends old and new, Dusty reaches heights he never dreamed possible, and in the process, gives a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
Directed by Klay Hall, who last worked on the straight-to-DVD animation Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, it’s difficult to see how this one will appeal to those outside the toddler age-range, but perhaps that is all that these producers are going for. While some of the vistas are impressive, the story looks like another generic entry into the world of Cars. Check it out below and we can likely look for Boats, Trains, and more coming our way in the near future.
