Check out this freakish trailer here for a new supernatural horror thriller called The Convent and it is set in the 17th century during a time when being a witch was a very bad thing.
This movie tells the story of a young woman who is wrongly accused of being a witch and sent to be hanged. However, she is rescued from the execution and taken to a priory to repent her sins. While she is there, she finds out something more sinister and evil is hiding there.
The main character, Persephone (Hannah Arterton) starts having demonic visions and she understands that she won’t find salvation among the nuns because this convent, nuns can’t be saved. They’re all evil! How cool is that!
Here’s the synopsis
In the early 17th century, innocent young Persephone is falsely accused and put on trial for her life. Her fate seems sealed except for the timely intervention of the mysterious Reverend Mother offering her not just sanctuary, but hope. For the Reverend Mother is the self-appointed leader of a small religious retreat, a secluded Priory, where her fellow Sisters devote their lives to the Lord and seek atonement for their pasts. But upon arrival, Persephone is plagued with terrifying visions and soon realizes it’s not salvation that awaits but a battle for her very soul itself.
The Convent was directed by Paul Hyett and it also stars Clare Higgins as the Reverend Mother, Michael Ironside, Rosie Day, Ciarán McMenamin, Dilan Gwyn, Grahame Fox, Freddy Carter, and Ryan Oliva.
The Convent will release the movie on May 3, 2019.
