3-D Interactive Shape Display

The Future Is Here!: A 3-D Interactive Shape Display.

This is a video demonstration of MIT Media Lab’s inFORM Shape Display. It’s like one of those novelty pins-and-needle art displays you press your hand or face into, except you’re doing it from far away using a Kinect (so it’s not very much like one of those at all). Still, it allows a user to interact with the 3-D display from anywhere in the world. It’s perfect for….hmmm. It’s perfect for….damn. It has to be perfect for something. Ooh — It’s perfect if you want to play with your cats while you’re on vacation.

Granted it’s not a particularly exciting future, but anything’s better than being chased down and exterminated by robots.
