3 Games to Play While Waiting for Starfield

Starfield

Starfield is set to be Bethesda Game Studios’ next big game since Fallout 4, which was released back in 2015. However, the game was recently met with a delay from its initial November 2022 release date. Without a new release date to look forward to, fans are left wondering just how long they’ll be left waiting.

But in the meantime, there are plenty of similar games to keep you busy. Here are three games to play while waiting for Starfield to drop.

The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds

If you’re looking for the closest thing to Starfield until the game actually comes out, The Outer Worlds is the title for you. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the 2019 action role-playing game is very reminiscent of the Bethesda style of gameplay, complete with interesting dialogue options, choices, and consequences, branching questlines with multiple endings, deep RPG mechanics, and more.

What’s better is that the setting takes place deep in space, setting the mood for the day when Starfield hopefully drops.

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky

There have been a lot of comparisons being made between No Man’s Sky and what’s been seen of Starfield, and while there might be some similarities, we aren’t too worried about them being the same kind of game.

While No Man’s Sky was met with a rocky launch back in 2016, the game has had many updates and improvements since then. If you’re looking for a game that has plenty of exploration, resource collecting, and the ability to seamlessly travel from planet to planet, give this one a try.

Fallout 76

Fallout

Most Bethesda fans will undoubtedly have played at least one Fallout game, and if you’re trying to find a game to play that will satiate your Starfield cravings, they’re a solid choice. While being set in a post-apocalypse setting rather than space, they’ll have the same basic mechanics as the next Bethesda title will. The deep RPG elements are present in each of the series’ games as well, complete with multiple endings, companions, unique weapons, mutants, and everything else fans have come to love.

Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4 are all terrific options to prepare you for Starfield, and maybe even Fallout 76, if you’re desperate.

The Wait Continues

If you find yourself clamoring for something to fill the void as we wait for Bethesda to announce the new release date for Starfield, these games are all great ways to pass the time. It seems as though we could be waiting upwards of an entire year and some change before we finally get to play the game. That means there are still plenty of days to cross off the calendar, put in time at work—whether that’s at an office or even a place like Provider’s Choice Scribe Services—and play plenty of engaging games until we can explore the stars.
