We love movies and games and there is nothing more fun to watch then the movies with gaming themes, Good movies with this genre is hard to come by but over the years we have seen many movies with gaming theme.

We love these movies with the gaming themes, Adam Sandler’s Pixels and Wreck-It Ralph. and today, we take a look at some other movies that feature videogames as part of their plots.

Tron: Legacy

Tron: Legacy  (2010)

Tron: Legacy was a brilliant science fiction action film directed by Joseph Kosinski, It is based on a story by Horowitz, Kitsis, Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal. It was a sequel to that 1982 original Tron movie.

The cast includes Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprising their roles as Kevin Flynn and Alan Bradley, respectively, as well as Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, and Michael Sheen.

In the movie Flynn’s son Sam, He received a message from his father who was lost for a long time and following that message he transported himself into the virtual reality game called the Grid, After getting into the game Sam and his father and the algorithm Quorra (a good code), trying to stop the malevolent program CLU from invading the human world and getting out of the game.

Reign Over Me

Reign Over Me (2007)

Reign Over Me wasn’t a huge hit at the box office but good ones always fail at the boxoffice, but this comedy-drama about grief and recovery starred Adam Sandler, alongside Don Cheadle and Liv Tyler, and made use of PlayStation 2 classic, Shadow Of The Colossus, which shared some themes with the film as a whole.

A man who lost his family in the September 11 attack on New York City meets up with his old roommate. Where his friend try to help the man recover from his grief.

The Last Starfighter

The Last Starfighter (1984)

Teenager Alex Rogan is a regular on an arcade cabinet down at his trailer park’s watering hole. He was pretty good at the game and that what leads him to join the Star League and then he ends up in space fighting the foes and his skills come in real handy to fight against the enemy and repelling an incoming intergalactic armada.

Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph (2012)

This is my most favorite animated movie and there were a lot of rumors about the part 2 but sadly it never come out of the planning stage. Ralph was stuck in the role of a villain but wanting to do something good with his life and tired of being the bad guy and done with breaking stuff and just need to fix stuff for a change, Ralph endeavors to break away by jumping into a selection of other games in order to earn a medal just like the hero of the film’s Rampage and Donkey-Kong crossover Fix-It Felix, Jr. and that choice of his takes him to the real adventure of his life, Audiences around the world loved this nostalgic animated icon.

Pixels

Pixels (2015 film)

Pixels was one brilliant comedy film which was produced by Columbia Pictures.

Animated movie features some brilliant characters, special effects, and it stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, Brian Cox, Ashley Benson, and Jane Krakowski.

The best part about this movie was it’s creative take on villains which are classic arcade games and they are declaring war on the people and gamers of the planet Earth. Games such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Galaga, Centipede and Donkey Kong were involved in mass attack on the planet and they are divided into levels for the gamers to come against. To counter the alien assault, the United States hire former arcade champions to lead the planet’s defense and there where all the madness starts, the gaming misfits fighting to be the legendary gamer of the planet.
