UK Storage Company, Ltd, self-reports that in its early days, a customer who had reserved car storage pulled up in a copy of Michael Knight’s K.I.T.T. Employees were flabbergasted…and jealous.

4. NEVER-RELEASED MICHAEL JACKSON TRACKS

Joe Jackson owned a storage unit that was claimed by the storage facility after a period of unpaid rent. Found inside were 270 tracks, including some recorded with Tina Turner. Luckily for the winning bidder, the tracks were recorded while Jackson was between contracts, which meant that no one had a legal claim to them.

3. LIVE AMMUNITION

Last summer, a man in Muskegon, Michigan bought a storage unit at an auction and found a live hand grenade inside of a handgun case. He immediately called the police, and the Bomb Squad arrived to dispose of the grenade. Luckily, there were no injuries.

2. ARETHA FRANKLIN’S WARDROBE

A storage unit in Southfield, Michigan was abandoned by Franklin, but she left it full of clothing, hats and other accessories. Franklin had used the unit after a fire damaged her Michigan home. The items were auctioned off  – turns out it doesn’t matter if you’re Aretha Franklin or not, if you don’t pay your bill, your stuff goes to the highest bidder.

1. 3,000 YEAR OLD SEEDS

Although this story isn’t about your typical storage unit, it’s pretty fascinating. Archaelogists studying the Zhou and Shang dynasties uncovered an ancient storage unit at the Sites of Zhouyuan. Inside the unit, they found “500 almonds, 839 half-broken and 108 unbroken seeds … about 150 Cucurbitaceae seeds such as melon seeds, less than 10 Prunus seeds and two kinds of Setaria plant seeds, which are millet seeds and grass seeds.”
