In 2015 plans were announced to have a Gundam walk by 2019 and after missing a year now a walking Gundam is set to be revealed later this year. According to Forbes, the Gundam will have a support mechanism added at the waist to prevent falling and it will be remote controlled instead of being driven by a human. It’s still very exciting to think that we will have an 18-meter-tall Gundam walking around in Japan. We are getting closer to the reality shown in the Pacific Rim.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Gundam is designed to be a stylized RX-78-2, the original Gundam. The plan is to have the Gundam walk in Yokohama on October 1, the very day that Gundam Factory Yokohama is opening.
