A New ALIEN Movie is in Development

20th Century Fox is producing a new Alien film with Ridley Scott producing and Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez set to write and helm it.

There are no details on the story, but the film is said to tell a standalone. So, while the film will be set in the same universe as Alien and Aliens, it will tell a different story in another corner of the universe. The project is said to offer “a new take on the franchise and will be disconnected from the narrative of the three Alien films.”

Alvarez is a brilliant filmmaker who also helmed Don’t Breathe and The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and his movies consist of some very brutal content. I imagine that part of his filmmaker will carry on over to this Alien movie, which will be amazing to see.

20th Century Studios also recently completed production on a Predator prequel film titled Prey. There’s also an Alien series in development from Noah Hawley at FX.
