The trailer looks incredible and I’m impressed with what the game has to offer, Quantic Dream’s rumored Star Wars game has been officially announced at the 2021 Game Awards: Star Wars: Eclipse, The game is set in the “High Republic” era of the Star Wars universe, hundreds of years before the Skywalker Saga at the golden age of the Jedi Order and the Republic.
The High Republic started as a multimedia project last year, but until now has mostly been concentrated on a connected series of books and comics exploring the Jedi Order and its battle with the Nihil, a new faction of marauders who use special hyperspace technology to plunder across the galaxy.
Quantic Dream is famous for its interactive narrative games, including Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. It sounds like Star Wars: Eclipse will be a separate affair from the studio’s usual gaming roster, though, with the company promising an “action-adventure” game, although no gameplay was revealed in the trailer.
While details are not many known on the upcoming title, the new game promises that players will “play as a diverse cast of charismatic characters, each with their own story, powers, and role to play in the tapestry of events that could alter the carefully balanced peace of the Outer Rim.”
Star Wars: Eclipse is being developed together with Lucasfilm Games, and in “early development,” so there’s no release window yet. No platforms were revealed for the upcoming game as of yet, either.
