Adele’s Hello video marks the first music video ever shot with IMAX cameras. Which is quite a big deal. Adele released her latest music video and it has its own connection to cinema history. The Hello video, which you can watch in the player below, is the first music video ever to be filmed using IMAX cameras.
Music video is directed and edited by Xavier Dolan. Dolan’s big screen credits include films like Mommy and the upcoming It’s Only the End of the World. The IMAX cameras offer the highest resolution film cameras in the world, capturing images at up to 18K resolution. That’s about 100x the resolution as a home HDTV.
The cameras used for Adele’s Hello video have been featured on films like Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Francis Lawrence’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire and J.J. Abrams’ highly-anticipated upcoming blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Hello will be featured on Adele’s upcoming album, 25, which is set for release November 20.
