Amazon is Making an Epic Middle Earth MMO Game Set in Time Before LORD OF THE RINGS

Amazon is producing an epic series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, they have revealed that they are also going to make a massively multiplayer online game which will be set in Middle Earth and it will take place in a time way before the events in The Lord of the Rings.

The project is totally apart from the TV series that is being developed and it will not unite into it. This MMO game is a whole new project on its own, but this is just another chance for Amazon to cash in on the property that they have and mint some cash from it.

It’s revealed that the MMO game will be set in “a time long before the events of The Lord of the Rings, exploring lands, people and creatures never seen before by fans of the Tolkien universe.” That’s fascinating! Exploring an era of Middle Earth that we have no idea about will be very cool!

Amazon Game Studios has joined forces with Leyou Technologies, a Hong Kong-based games company to bring the game to life. The upcoming game will be developed or both PC and gaming consoles.

Amazon Game Studios is led by VP Christoph Hartmann, former president of Take-Two Interactive and founder of 2K Games, and said this in a statement:

“We’re committed to bringing customers games of the highest quality, both with our own original [intellectual property] as well as beloved cultural pillars like ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ Tolkien’s Middle-earth is one of the richest fictional worlds in history, and it gives our team of experienced MMO developers — from the same studio developing ‘New World’ — tremendous opportunity to play and create.”
