Universal Pictures has released a second trailer for the World War II war film Unbroken, Directed by Angelina Jolie.
The film tells the real life story of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini who, “along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.”
Jack O’Connell plays Zamperini in the story, and Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock play Phil and Mac, “the airmen with whom Zamperini endured perilous weeks adrift in the open Pacific.” It co-stars Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as “fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini’s brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as ‘The Bird.'”
The idea for the film came from a book written by Laura Hillenbrand, and that book was turned into a script by Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men), William Nicholson (Les Misérables), and Richard LaGravenese (HBO’s Behind the Candelabra). So you know the script is solid.
It will be released this Christmas.
