AQUAMAN 2 Recasting the Role of Mera After Amber Heard Backlash

Aquaman 2 film’s rumors are all around and the fate of the movie is in the balance since all the drama surrounding the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial pushed fans to petition for Heard to be removed from the film. I don’t think anyone was really impressed with her performance or onscreen chemistry in the first movie, and the internet loves someone to rally against, so it wasn’t a difficult decision.

But due to a recent rumor, it could be that the push to replace her in the sequel may be closer to coming to fruition. In a recent report from Just Jared, an insider told the outlet, “Warner Bros. decided to recast Amber Heard’s role after screen testing the movie. They are going to be doing reshoots with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman.”

The studio has not confirmed the report, but The Blast reached out to Amber Heard for comment on the latest, and a spokesperson for the actress responded, stating, “The rumor mill continues as it has from day one — inaccurate, insensitive, and slightly insane.”
