Arnold Schwarzenegger had expressed his desire to collaborate once again with Danny DeVito on the long-awaited sequel to their popular film “Twins.” Unfortunately, their plans were shattered when the project came to a halt following the untimely passing of director Ivan Reitman. Schwarzenegger had previously shared his disappointment and how Jason Reitman, Ivan’s son, made the difficult decision to cancel the project.
However, it seems that Schwarzenegger is not letting setbacks deter him from pursuing exciting new ventures. While the highly anticipated “Triplets” movie may not see the light of day, the action star recently disclosed his involvement in an upcoming James Bond-inspired action comedy alongside Danny DeVito. It appears that Schwarzenegger is embracing his funny side, exploring a genre that combines action-packed sequences with comedic elements.
This unexpected twist in Schwarzenegger’s career showcases his versatility as an actor and his willingness to venture into uncharted territories. Although the Twins sequel may have been shelved, fans can look forward to seeing the dynamic duo of Schwarzenegger and DeVito team up once again in this thrilling James Bond-style action comedy. With their undeniable on-screen chemistry and proven comedic prowess, the collaboration between these two iconic actors is bound to bring laughter and excitement to audiences worldwide.
As Schwarzenegger sets his sights on this new project, fans eagerly await more details about the film’s plot, cast, and release date. While it may not be the Twins sequel they had hoped for, the prospect of Schwarzenegger and DeVito joining forces in a fresh and entertaining action comedy promises to be an exhilarating cinematic experience.
He tells The Arnold Fans:
“It’s interesting because I always felt, in my whole life, that there’s a funny side to me, and an intense side, a serious side, a casual side and all those different sides, but in the beginning, because of my physical developments, no one would want me to do anything funny. They just wanted me to kick ass. They said, ‘This is an action star’ after I came out with Conan. I was the only one who was physically developed like that.
“Then everyone copied me and came in and started getting muscular and we created a whole action genre. So when I said to the people in the studio business that I would like to do comedy, they said, ‘Are you stupid, you think we are going to invest in comedy? We have a rule: don’t fix what isn’t broken. We are making a lot of money with you in action movies, so why would we switch over to comedy?’ So it was a ‘No.’ Only when Ivan Reitman came along and said, ‘I would like to do Twins with you and with Danny DeVito, and then the movie made more money than all the action movies, that’s when all the studios suddenly woke up and said, ‘Yeah, let’s give him a chance with comedies.’ SO then we did Kindergarten Cop, Junior, True Lies and all those other movies so, yeah, now, it continues on [FUBAR and with Danny DeVito].”
The actor then went on to talk about his project with DeVito. He doesn’t offer many details, but it’s definitely a film project that he’s excited about:
“I’m finally doing regularly the things that I was meant for. I can do both [action and comedy] and this Danny DeVito project will be one of those projects where you see over-the-top action—James Bond kind of things, but also very funny.”
