Battlefield 2042 has a “mostly negative” review poll on Steam, the game needs some love from its developers to bring players back into the game. The title launched with a new system for classes that sounded better on paper than the actual execution, the ability to create whatever loadout you want. Sadly, this concept ended up being the total opposite of what Battlefield is all about, team play. EA has heard the fans loud and clear and has been sending out band-aid fixes for the game along the way. Just in time for its one-year anniversary, EA has announced that Battlefield 2042 is now available on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass.
DICE has also revealed its plans for a Season 3, revealing some cool maps and gear. But the saving grace to this game is not in the form of additional content, but rather a full rendition of the class system. That’s right, it is confirmed that the class system re-work will be coming out very soon. This will certainly help the game feel more like a real Battlefield game and less like a one-man-army GTA online skirmish.
While we wait for the class re-work update to come out in the early part of 2023, The freedom to play any Battlefield era on a multitude of maps with different weapons from a history of games in the updated game engine is awesome. Honestly, EA should just make a Battlefield: Portal game and call it a day.
Battlefield 2042 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It is also available via Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and EA Play.
