There are a whole host of films out there that actually provide the watcher with an immense amount of useful information, movies are great, and they are even better when you know you are utilizing your time for the good of your education too! Here are a few movies worth a watch if you want an educational twist to your viewing.
Are you writing a Geography paper and struggling with a really good topic to explore? Well, there is a great movie out there for you, that is informative and will expand your knowledge of the current situation our planet is in. In 2006, Al Gore released a documentary he titled ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, in this movie Al Gore attempts to provide a step-by-step guide to the current problem of Global Warming to educate citizens on the growing problem. The movie was actually a big hit when it came out, meeting with critical and box office success, and this is because Gore explains it in a simplistic and easy to follow way. It is an absolutely fantastic movie if you hear a lot of people worrying about the earth’s climate, but don’t really know yourself what exactly is going on.
Going to the other end of the spectrum now, this is a fictional, feel-good flick starring none other than the late Robin Williams. It is set in a fictional boarding school in Vermont called Welton Academy in which Robin Williams plays an English teacher. Robin Williams character utilizes strange teaching methods in which he implores his students to make their lives extraordinary, and seize the day. The teacher casts aside the mathematical method of teaching poetry the introduction to their books tells them, in favor of a more heartfelt and romanticist approach to poetry.
And these students don’t turn around to Williams and say write my paper for me it’s actually the complete opposite, they are completely inspired by him.
This movie is amazing for inspiring yourself to learn and see the beautiful side of literature and poetry, as the way it is taught in schools is often quite systematic and dull.
There you have it, two movies to choose from. Both of these movies expand your mind in a completely different way, one opens your eyes to a real problem the earth is facing, while the other encourages you to see the beauty in learning something. Both are definitely entertaining, informative and, of course, well worth a watch! Flick one on the next time you’re left with nothing to do and become inspired!
