Black Ops Cold War‘s single-player campaign is packed with secrets. Even if you miss all the references to other Black Ops games, or the more immediate connections to real-world events and actual figures from the history to the story of the game seeks a link to establish, there are lots hiding underneath the surface of the game.
One of the game’s most complex puzzles comes very early, but several won’t even notice it. In this guide, we’re going to assist you to figure out the code to the locked gate’s lock yourself.
Did you spot the locked gate in the safe house where you visit all of the campaign briefings? That’s what we’re going to unlock it for you. Solving this puzzle is actually reasonably straightforward if you did use a bit of time searching the place.
If you chose to poke around at any point in the campaign, you may have already come across three documents that are spread around the safe house. They are torn, with only key detail– in this case, numbers – which you can see. The game even shows those in yellow for you when you move your reticle over them.
All three reference the assassination of President John F. Kennedy: They are the Clinical Record, the Warren Commission Report, and the Dallas News Article.
Each of them gives a clue, or more accurately, a two-digit number. You need all three for the whole six-digit sequence that unlocks the padlock.
Here are the three assassination references:
The Warren Commission Report is the nearest item to the secured gate. Take a step back and look at your feet, you’ll find it on the floor stuck to a clipboard. There’s a spotlight on it and everything, but you may not see it immediately. Looking at it at shows the number 22.
The Clinical Record is located in the hallway to the left of the gate, on the right after the small office. Its clue is 11.
The Dallas News Article is an easy-to-find one. It’s located in the darkroom (the one with the red lights). As you get in, check the wall on your right, you’ll see it there, giving you the number 63.
In case you haven’t figured it out by now, all three clues merged to spell out a date – SPOILER: check out the code below:
The date of Kennedy’s assassination, which is 11/22/63, meaning your code is 112263.
You have to unlock the room as soon as you can because it is important for the end of the game. That’s all we can say without spoiling the ending for you, but believe us, do it as early as you can.
