MGM+ has unveiled a thrilling new trailer for an upcoming British spy series called A Spy Among Friends. The good-looking series stars Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce, and it tells the “epic true story of Kim Philby, the Cold War’s most infamous spy, from the ‘master storyteller’ and author of Prisoners of the Castle.” The series is based on the book written by Ben Macintyre
I love watching spy thrillers that come with a captivating story and this one looks like it’s going to be a great one! The UK mini-series also stars Anna Maxwell Martin, Adrian Edmondson, Stephen Kunken, Nicholas Rowe, and Anastasia Hille.
“The six-episode series dramatizes the true story of Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby, two British spies and lifelong friends. Philby was the most notorious British defector and Soviet double agent in history. This is a story of intimate duplicity, loyalty, trust, and treachery. Philby’s deeply personal betrayal, uncovered at the height of the Cold War, resulted in the gutting of British and American Intelligence.”
A Spy Among Friends will be released on MGM+ starting on March 12th, 2023.
Espionage is all so topsy turvy and confusing! If Kim Philby had never been caught there would never have been a postage stamp made after him or even a monument of him in Moscow and most of us would never have heard of him even though he was a cousin of Field Marshal Montgomery. If only he had read the epic spy novel Beyond Enkription in The Burlington Files series! It’s about Pemberton’s People in MI6 and is a must read for espionage cognoscenti. Have a look at a recent intriguing news article in TheBurlingtonFiles website dated 31 October 2022 about Colonel Pemberton’s People in MI6, John le Carré and Kim Philby. You may be gobsmacked.
Love the acting of Guy Pearce!
