Bruce Campbell Clashes with Heckler at the EVIL DEAD RISE Premiere at SXSW

EVIL DEAD RISE

Evil Dead Rise, the latest installment in the beloved horror franchise, recently premiered at the SXSW festival to much fanfare and excitement. The film follows two estranged sisters who must team up to fight off a horde of demonic creatures after a mysterious book unleashes evil forces upon their city.

While the majority of fans in attendance loved the movie and were thrilled to see the franchise continue, there was one audience member who wasn’t impressed. The young heckler, sitting slouched in a balcony seat, wasn’t shy about letting everyone know how he felt about the film. As the cast and crew sat down for a Q&A session after the screening, the heckler shouted out, “This movie f***ing sucks!”

The outburst was met with boos and jeers from the rest of the audience, but the heckler didn’t stop there. He stood up, threw his empty popcorn container into the air, and proceeded to walk out of the theater. The incident was caught on video, and it quickly went viral on social media.

As the heckler made his way out of the theater, the film’s producer Robert Tapert quipped, “I think someone got possessed during the movie.” The heckler then yelled something back at the cast and crew, prompting Bruce Campbell, who plays the iconic Ash Williams in the original Evil Dead trilogy, to yell back, “What are you doing here? Get the f**k out of here!” The audience erupted into cheers and applause, showing their support for the cast and crew and their love for the franchise.

Tapert, ever the humorist, added, “I don’t get it. He waited all the way through the credits.” Despite the heckler’s disruptive behavior, the cast and crew were able to brush it off and continue on with the Q&A session, much to the delight of the rest of the audience.

Overall, the incident serves as a reminder that while everyone is entitled to their opinion, there are respectful ways to express it. Disrupting a screening and verbally attacking the cast and crew is not one of them. Nevertheless, the incident only added to the excitement and buzz surrounding Evil Dead Rise, which is set to be released later this year.
