Sunday, Telegraph features writer Harry Wallop asked Cadbury if the rumours were true about chocolate coins are discontinued and we won’t be seeing them on the shelves this Christmas.
Can it really be true? I hear @CadburyUK is not making chocolate coins this year. Disaster. Christmas stockings won't be the same
— Harry Wallop (@hwallop) October 26, 2014
And on Monday the reply surfaced.
— Cadbury UK (@CadburyUK) October 27, 2014
and then the reply.
Wow. @CadburyUK confirms it has discontinued chocolate coins. The bottom of Christmas stockings will never be the same
— Harry Wallop (@hwallop) October 27, 2014
And then all hell breaks loose.
Anyone wd think #cadburys stopping making chocolate coins a cheap pre-Christmas publicity stunt which will be reversed 'by public demand'.

Choc horror: Twitter outcry over @CadburyUK apparently stopping production of chocolate coins before Xmas. "Publicity stunt" you say? Cynic!

Why would @CadburyUK stop making Chocolate Coins? This is what happens when you sellout to an American company. All identity is lost!
— Dylan A. Pearson (@DylanAPearson) October 28, 2014
Cadbury are you mad!? Chocolate coins are divine!!!

What on earth has possessed @CadburyUK to stop making Christmas chocolate coins? They ARE Christmas.
— Lloyd Rees (@Lloyd_Rees) October 27, 2014
This has to be a joke @CadburyUK you're not making choc coins because they are too fiddly? It's not stopping your competitors!
