A bear in a Russian circus attacked its trainer during a show and was subdued with a stun gun, adding to the discussion that wild animals shouldn’t be used for entertainment purposes.
The 660-pound brown bear and handler Ruslan Solodyuk of the moving Anshlag circus were doing a skid in Olonets involving a wheelbarrow when the muzzled bear jumped on him, NBC News reported Friday. With no boundary between the audience and the attacking bear, spectators screamed and could be seen fleeing in the video, below.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into whether circus was unsafe, CBS News published Friday. The bear attempted into the spectator area after the attack, before it was suppressed with the stun gun, according to the network’s report.
