Cities: Skylines 2 Revealed for Consoles, Coming Later This Year

Cities Skylines 2

Developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive have announced the highly anticipated sequel to the popular city-building simulation game, Cities: Skylines. Cities: Skylines II was officially revealed during the Paradox Announcement Show 2023 and is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2023.

One of the most exciting things about Cities: Skylines II is that it will leave last-gen consoles behind and focus on the current-gen systems, allowing for more advanced and complex gameplay mechanics. According to Paradox, the sequel will improve and expand upon the robust city building mechanics that fans know and love from the original game. This includes fully-realized transportation and economy systems, tons of construction and customization options, and advanced modding capabilities.

Players will be able to build any type of city they desire, from a small village to a bustling metropolis. Paradox is also touting that Cities: Skylines II will be the most realistic city simulation ever created, which is a bold statement considering how popular the original game was for its attention to detail and realism.

Cities: Skylines was first released on PC and Mac back in 2015, and it quickly gained a massive following. The game eventually made its way to other platforms, such as PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and even Stadia. The original game also saw a number of DLC expansions, including major updates like Cities: Skylines After Dark, Cities: Skylines Snowfall, and a natural disasters DLC, among others.

With Cities: Skylines II, fans can expect even more content and features that will keep them engaged for hours on end. The original game was praised for its addictive gameplay and high replay value, and it seems like Cities: Skylines II will only build upon that success. The fact that it is launching exclusively on the latest consoles and PC also ensures that the game will take advantage of the latest hardware and technology, delivering an even more immersive experience for players.
