Dell’s new 12-inch tablet has been designed for use in extremely harsh environments. It’s MIL-STD-810G certified, so it meets U.S. Military requirements for withstanding everything from heat, cold, rain, sand, and dust to salt fog, rust, high altitudes, and gunfire vibration. This is a serious tablet for serious badasses that need to get things done outdoors.
The Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet features an Intel Core M processor and an 11.6-inch touchscreen that’s daylight readable and works even when the user is wearing thick gloves. Storage is solid-state only in this bad boy, and Dell will give you up to 512GB for your files. As for power, the Latitude 12 is powered by a pair of removable batteries that can easily be swapped out without having to power down the tablet.
Dell has designed a full-size keyboard cover for the tablet, and it’s built to shrug off abuse, too. It’s IP65 certified, so it’s totally dust-proof and has no problem dealing with pressurized water streams. For those times when you’re not working on a bomb range or out in the frozen wastes, Dell also offers a desktop dock so you can hook the Latitude 12 up to the expansive Ultrasharp displays in your boring old office.
