Director Colin Trevorrow Talks About ‘Jurassic Park 4’

After some set backs and dates being pushed back and all but that doesn’t mean that movie is in trouble, Trevorrow spoke with Schmoes Know (via ComingSoon) and while he didn’t divulge any details about the forthcoming sequel, he did talk about how involved Spielberg has been on the project, and how aware they are of handling the franchise very carefully.

First of all, as far as Spielberg’s collaboration is concerned, Trevorrow says:

“It’s incredible to have Steven, who’s done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and just understands the language of the story in a way that for us is very refreshing. It’s not like getting notes from a studio executive, it’s really just trying to crack this and make it the best it can be.”

That’s the best thing you can ask for from a producer, especially one like Spielberg. And with his involvement, Trevorrow says “we definitely want to honor what came before us.” That basically means we’re not looking at a franchise reboot, which would be a bit silly since the origin story doesn’t really need to be explained again, and a straight up sequel.

But the director says they’re still in the script process and reassure fans, “We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time and really the conversation is: It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s – how do we make something that can stand with the first one?” These are the most reassuring words coming out from a Director and i’m sure it will be a Epic and something to stand in the Blu-Ray Rack proudly.
