Life with a doppelgänger can’t be easy, but when your double is a funnier, smarter, more confident version of you who the girl of your dreams is more taken by, it’s infinitely worse.
That’s what Jesse Eisenberg is dealing with in the latest trailer for director Richard Ayoade’s The Double. The other’s having a grand time.
Based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s 1846 novella about a government clerk’s descent into madness, the Eisenberg-led adaptation premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to great acclaim, and co-stars Mia Wasikowska, Chris O’Dowd, Sally Hawkins, and Wallace Shawn.
Magnolia Pictures is releasing The Double in theaters and VOD on May 9.
