Eerie First Trailer For Season 2 of David Fincher’s Serial Killer Series MINDHUNTER

Mindhunter

I absolutely love David Fincher’s serial killer series Mindhunter, Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming Season 2 and it sets up an eerie new story.

Mindhunter is based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, and it chronicles the start of serial killer profiling in the FBI.

The series is set in the year 1977, “in the early days of criminal psychology and criminal profiling at the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Mindhunter revolves around FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), along with psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv), who originate the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit within the Training Division at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. They interview imprisoned serial killers in order to understand how they think, with the hope of applying this knowledge to solving ongoing cases.”

The first season is based on the FBI agents interviewing Ed Kemper, who was brilliantly played by Cameron Britton. Ed Kemper is back in season 2 to help Ford and Tench in their efforts to arrest a new “fantasy” killer that will be very hard to catch if he’s good at what he does.

It looks like the series will also feature the Atlanta Child Murders from the ’70s and ’80s. 28 people were thought to have been murdered between 1979 and 1981. We also know that notorious killer and cult leader Charles Manson will fit into the story of the show and we also get to see him in this trailer being played by Damon Herriman.

Mindhunter is set to air on August 16th, it will come two years after the first season of the show.
