There is no character in comics quite like Catwoman. In one moment she’s a villain and antagonist to Batman, the next his uneasy partner, and love interest. The character began in 1940 as The Cat, a femme fatale jewel thief, and mistress of disguises who wore a furry cat mask. By 1946, she had a cat-eared cowl much like Batman’s, reflecting their connection. It wasn’t until the 1966 television series that she ditched the supervillain costume for a slinky black catsuit.
