Many famous celebrities have enormous amounts of cash to run through. These large sums of money lead to some of the most interesting, biggest, and downright coolest homes to ever reach the market. Although most people will never live in anything near these multimillion dollar homes, it is interesting to take a look, and maybe incorporate some small ideas into the design of our own residences. Most of these homes are more space than any person really needs, yet celebrities are able to make the most of them.
Throughout her time as a talk show host, Oprah has transformed television, becoming an icon in the industry. Although she no longer hosts the same show she had at one point, she still is an active participant in the industry, owning her own network. Her personal wealth is estimated over two and a half billion dollars. With this money, she was able to buy one of the most extravagant homes in California, costing $50 million. For Oprah, this 23,000 square foot home is placed on 42 acres with 8 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. She has added features to the home since she has lived there, including a home movie theater, a lake with exotic fish, and some of the best landscaping.
This powerful couple has multiple homes in both the United States and Europe. Even so, their main residence in Beverly Hills may be the most unique and extravagant of them all. This home is just over 13,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. In addition to this the house includes large open courtyards, a pool, multiple other rooms for entertainment, and a swimming pool. This home combines the outdoors with the inside, using full wall windows in almost every room.
Although originally trying to make it as a musician, Will Smith has taken off as an actor, having been active for many years. He has enjoyed many of the perks of being an award winning actor, one of which comes from his Calabasas castle. It is estimated that this home cost around $20 million. With this price, the castle includes its own basketball court, tennis court, golf course, and pool. That’s just accounting for the outside. This refurbished castle even has its own zip code.
Television producer Aaron Spelling could boast having the largest home in Los Angeles County at the time of his death in 2006. The Spelling Manor is situated in Los Angeles, in the Holmby Hills. Although purchased after his death for $85 million, it was on the market for two years listed for $150 million. This was the most expensive listing for residential real estate ever recorded in the United States. The manor has influences of a French chateau, reaching a startling 56,000 square feet. It has 123 rooms, including a screening room, bowling alley, multiple garages, and rooms designed specifically for wrapping gifts.
Some of the most famous homes in the world belong to celebrities, for the most part located somewhere in California. Although the average person won’t have the funds to build such a residence, it is still possible to take some of the elements from celebrity homes and incorporate them into your own design.
