Finland’s Amazing New Action Hero – SISU Official Trailer Released

The upcoming Finnish action movie Sisu has just released its official US trailer, ahead of its release in US theaters in April. The film features Jorma Tommila as ex-soldier Aatami, who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness and attempts to take it back home, only to face off against Nazi soldiers led by a brutal SS officer. The film embodies the Finnish concept of “sisu,” which refers to stoic determination, tenacity, grit, and bravery. The movie received rave reviews, with the lead actor’s mostly dialogue-free performance earning him the title of an action cinema icon. Sisu has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is being hailed as a must-see on the big screen.

Sisu is a Finnish action movie directed by Jalmari Helander, starring Jorma Tommila as an ex-commando and prospector who encounters Nazis during the last days of World War II in northern Finland. When the Nazis steal his gold, the lone soldier will stop at nothing to get it back, taking on the entire battalion and embodying the Finnish concept of “sisu” – an indomitable spirit and perseverance in the face of adversity. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022 and was also screened at the Sitges Film Festival. Lionsgate will distribute the film in US theaters starting on April 28th, 2023.
