The Syfy Channel has released the first five minutes of George R.R. Martin’s new upcoming sci-fi series Nightflyers. It looks incredible, solid and intense opening scene that increased my excitement about watching the series.
The clip starts with a spaceship drifting through space with all kinds of debris. Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) is in the ship and in a frenzy as she starts the gravitational pull. As she starts to send a message that the Nightflyer ship has received serious damage, and the crew gets multiple fatalities, a maniac-looking crew member walks in whistling with an axe. Things then take a twisting and very unusual turn.
Nightflyers is based on the novella, written by Martin, that tells the story of “eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system in the hopes of contacting alien life. They travel aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain. But when shocking and violent incidents begin to take place they start to challenge each other, and surviving the journey shows harder than anyone thought.”
The series also stars Eoin Macken as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala as Roy Eris, Sam Strike as Thale, Maya Eshet as Lommie, Angus Sampson as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith as Melantha Jhirl, and Brían F. O’Byrne as Auggie.
Nightflyers will premiere on Sunday, December 2, and it will be followed by a new episode every night through Thursday, December 6. The remaining episodes will then air Sunday, December 9 through Thursday, December 13. I am super excited about this show, how about you?
