Lionsgate has released a first-look photo from John Wick: Chapter 4 and it features Keanu Reeves in a moment of silence before the shit hits the fan as the world of assassins tries to kill him. Little do they know… they will lose because John Wick will brutally demolish them.
Wick has gone through a lot of physical and emotional suffering over the course of these films and it isn’t going to end with John Wick: Chapter 4. According to director Chad Stahelski:
“We keep finding new and interesting ways to have John Wick suffer. That’s where the action comes from. Figure out how to make him suffer, and then design backward.”
When asked if this next film in the franchise would be it’s last, Reeves said: “We just attack one at a time”, and Stahelski added: “We do it chapter by chapter. Just like an author; write the chapter, scratch head, write next chapter.”
Stahelski previously said that he could make these John Wick films for the rest of his career. He and Reeves apparently have a ton of ideas!
“I enjoy making these movies because there’s no limit. We create our own mythology, and we have a studio that both stays out of our way and supports us on the wacky decisions. If people go see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days. I could live here for the rest of my career. If people like it and want to watch more, I could think of way worse ways to spend your career. But, you know, we’re in the entertainment business. We’ll let the audience figure that out.”
John Wick: Chapter 4 is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, and the cast also includes Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, and Ian McShane. The movie is currently scheduled to open in theaters on May 27th, 2023.
