Netflix has released a new promo video for The Witcher which gives fans their first look at Henry Cavill in the lead role of Geralt! He looks excellent in the role and pretty much how I wanted to see him… Henry Cavill with long silver hair.

Geralt of Rivia is a solitary monster hunter, who “struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the executive producer and showrunner on the series and she’s done a fabulous job keeping fans updated on the progress of the series. In addition, Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström will all direct parts of the eight-episode first season. Sakharov will direct four episodes, including the first. Garcia Lopez and Brändström will direct two each.
The show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski‘s book and CD Projekt Red’s game trilogy. When previously talking about the show, Hissrich promised fans that it would not be a toned down version of the dark and very serious story that fans love.
The Witcher chronicles monster hunters who, with training and body alteration, develop supernatural powers at a young age to fight deadly creatures. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown previously issued the following statement giving some new insight into the story:
“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
