Fortnite: Chapter 2 is here. Instead of releasing Season 11, which would have followed the game’s pattern, Epic took Fortnite: Battle Royale offline completely for more than a day, creating anticipation for what would follow the black hole. Now, the game is back with a bang!, servers are online, and there’s a huge new update out on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and also on mobile phones. Among other things, the great highlight is that Epic has finally launched a brand-new Fortnite map, rather than proceeding to evolve the original island as we’ve seen for the past two years.
Epic Games has yet to release Chapter 2 patch notes. That seems to have been a conscious decision, with it rather than of publishing a funny brief “what’s new” blog post on its website that gives no information.
There’s no disguising the biggest addition to the game, which is a brand-new map. Water will be a huge factor this time around, with new mechanics and now you can do swimming, fishing (let you get items, weapons, and ammo, given you first locate a fishing pole), and boats added. You can also carry down teammates to safety or revive them using the bandage bazooka, which is actually a rocket launcher that takes up two inventory slots and bursts healing items at your target.
This is not it, Epic has also revealed a new battle pass for Chapter 2: Season 1. It will, of course, include different skins, emotes, and weapon covers, but it also gives more chances to earn XP and medals. You’ll contribute just by searching chests, or eliminating opponents or finishing challenges.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 has been anticipated since the game went offline and into the black hole over the weekend. However, while people were anticipating Season 11, Epic has instead given us Chapter 2: Season 1, indicating a whole new start for the game.
