‘Friends’ Called That ‘Black Mirror’ Episode Years Before It Ever Happened

'Friends' Called That 'Black Mirror'

“San Junipero” is an inspiration in more ways than one; the episode newly won many Emmys, and it is now stood out as the single amazing episode of the bleak and existential Black Mirror.

But this is not it the amazing episode idea came many moons ago, from one Dr. Ross Gellar on Friends.

“By the year 2030, there will be computers that can carry out the same amount of functions as an actual human brain,” Ross says in the clip, from Season 6, episode 7 (“The One Where Phoebe Runs”). “So, theoretically, you can download your thoughts and memories into this computer and live forever as a machine.”

Chandler is skeptical, but Yorkie and Kelly know the truth.
