Is the Night King the Night’s King 13th Lord Commander?

Have we been “correcting” people incorrectly? The number 13 has me starting to think that the show Night King might actually be the Night’s King, formerly the 13th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch There is evidence against this theory such as issues with the Timeline… but can we trust the timeline?
