George R.R. Martin has given fans of the hit TV series Game of Thrones a hint of what to expect for the next big event in Season 4, Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell’s wedding.
It’s going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season.
It’s what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part. It looks spectacular, the bride’s dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there’s some wonderful half-time entertainment.
Season 4 will bring some new developments to the characters we already love and a few new faces. I’m looking forward to more of Arya, Sansa, Tyrion and Littlefinger’s double-dealings simply know no bounds. Among the Season 4 cast is the new Daario Naharis, with Michiel Huisman replacing Ed Skrein. Which I thoroughly approve of, Skein looks like he should be modelling for romance novels. We’ll also be seeing Mace Tyrell, Prince Oberyn Martell, Ellaria Sand and more. See the full cast of new characters below.
Michiel Huisman as Daario Naharis
Joseph Gatt as Styr, Magnar of Thenn, one of Mance Rayder’s lieutenants
