The Hollywood Reporter, Revealed Gerard Butler is set to star in writer/director Dean Devlin’s big screen sci-fi thriller Geostorm.
“The story sees Butler playing a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. A trip into space follows, while on Earth a plot to assassinate the president begins to unfold.”
Geostorm, which is aiming for a fall shoot, is being developed by Warner Bros. Picures, Skydance Productions and Electric Entertainment with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan producing. Paul Schwake is attached to executive produce with Jon Berg overseeing for WB.
He is best known for writer and producer on projects like Stargate and Independence Day. If he made his directorial debut Geostorm as good as Independence Day, I will be a happy man!
