GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Star Leslie Jones Pissed At The New GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Movie

Ghostbusters fans were introduced to the news that producer Ivan Reitman and director Jason Reitman were starting a new Ghostbusters movie that would be set in the same universe as the original two movies. That announcement was followed by a surprise teaser trailer, some rumored plot information about the young cast, and Ernie Hudson saying that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd would be back.

One person that is not happy about this Ghostbusters 3 film is Ghostbusters reboot actress Leslie Jones. She’s down-right pissed off and in a tweet she slammed the movie saying:

I get her disappointment, but the purpose of this movie is to provide to the fans of the original Ghostbusters movies, and who knows if that will even work with the direction the artistic team may be taking it. It’s not a political agenda. It’s business. On top of that, the new movie isn’t about a “man” agenda. The movie is going to focus on young teens that consist of two boys and two girls. Bringing back the original cast to usher in these younger characters is the perfect way to help ease fans into it.

So, Jones is pretty much slamming a movie that is going to possibly star 12 and 13-year-olds. Kids jumping on a big franchise like this are already going to be met with some criticism. That criticism that they don’t deserve. You’d think someone like Jones, who has been criticized and bullied herself online, would want to be more of a support and positive influence to these young new actors jumping into a big franchise like this.

Look, I loved the cast of the last Ghostbusters movie. I enjoy many of the projects that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones have been a part of. I think there could have been a great Ghostbusters movie with them as the stars. But, in my opinion, the movie that director Paul Feig delivered simply sucked, and I like a lot of the films that Feig has made!

That being said, there is still a fanbase that likes the new Ghostbusters movie. Hell, they could bring all the original characters from the first movies back and then pack it with a bunch of other male actors. But, in the end, if the script is bad and the story is weak, people aren’t going to like it. I don’t care what gender or race the characters are as long as there is good character development and a great story to tell.
