One of the many reasons to anticipate Peter Jackson’s upcoming feature adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit is getting to see Andy Serkis, back in character as Gollum/Smeagol. Those in attendance of a recent celebration to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of Tolkien’s novel had the opportunity to hear Serkis do a reading of The Hobbit, and of course, that included doing the voice.
The video below is a news report from the celebration at London’s Fulham Palace Gardens, and includes a couple snippets of Serkis doing the reading, and making sure to get into full vocal character to read the Gollum parts.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in theaters December 14.
