Musician and craftsman Burls Art is good with building guitars out of stuff nobody makes guitars with. His early creations have been made via coffee beans, Legos, colored pencils, skateboards, etc. But this time, he’s added a somewhat more altruistic overtone by extracting and reusing, ocean trash.
He partnered up with 4 Ocean – an organization taking on the gigantic task of cleaning up our planet’s waters – Burls set about gathering, grinding, melting, and molding dumped plastic in order to make a unique and especially stunning six-string electric guitar. The functional parts are all stock of course – there’s the standard knobs, strings, pickup, etc. But the body of the guitar is made with ocean trash.
