Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s Han Solo movie is now in production, specific story details have been few and scarce. It was previously announced that the film will focus on how young Han became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
Now, Bob Iger has revealed a few Han Solo movie story details.
During an event at USC, the Disney CEO confirmed that the film will span a seven-year stretch, covering Han’s life from 18 to 24. It will showcase how he came into possession of the Millennium Falcon and how he first met Chewbacca.
“You’ll also discover how he got his name,” Iger revealed (via Variety).
Does that mean that Han Solo’s name isn’t actually Han Solo? Only time will tell, but fans don’t have long to wait. The Han Solo movie will hit theaters on May 25, 2018. The film is set to feature Hail, Caesar‘s Alden Ehrenreich as Han, Atlanta‘s Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and The Force Awakens‘ Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. Woody Harrelson is attached to play Han’s mentor, a man by the name of Beckett, while Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Michael K. Williams and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are set for undisclosed roles.
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the Han Solo movie story arrives from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan.
