Hasan Minhaj Was Asked To Not Roast Trump at WHCA Dinner, He Did It Anyway
This is what happens when you tell a comedian *not* to do something.
Hasan Minhaj didn’t sacrifice on the humor during his 25-minute address at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Although he was asked to avoid roasting Trump at the dinner — since Trump broke with tradition in not attending and the rest of his royal court followed suit — Hasan Minhaj couldn’t help himself.
Minhaj served up his many punches at Trump and the news organizations attending the event with a side of Real Talk. As a Daily Show correspondent — an arbiter of actual, intentional fake news — he brings a unique outsider view to the apparent divide in 2017 between the news media and its fans.
“We’re living in this strange time where trust is more important than truth,” Minhaj said. “And supporters of President Trump trust him.”
