HBO’s Kit Harington’s Miniseries GUNPOWDER Trailer is Here

HBO has released a new trailer for their upcoming three-part miniseries called Gunpowder, which tells the story of British activist Guy Fawkes. The series follows Fawkes and his team of provincial English Catholics as they plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century.

The cast of this brilliant looking series includes Kit Harington, Peter Mullan, Mark Gatiss, Derek Riddell and Liv Tyler.

Most commonly people think Guy Fawkes is the main name connected with the Gunpowder plot, thanks to V for Vendetta, but he actually played a little role in it. The guy who actually led the charge was Robert Catesby, and Harington is playing that guy. Here is some information on the Gunpowder treason plot Wikipedia page:

The Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in earlier centuries often called the Gunpowder Treason Plot or the Jesuit Treason, was a failed assassination attempt against King James I of England and VI of Scotland by a group of provincial English Catholics led by Robert Catesby. Although anti-Catholic legislation was introduced soon after the plot’s discovery, many important and loyal Catholics retained high office during King James I’s reign. The thwarting of the Gunpowder Plot was commemorated for many years afterwards by special sermons and other public events such as the ringing of church bells, which have evolved into the Bonfire Night of today.

Gunpowder already premiered on the BBC One in the U.K. and now it’s headed to HBO on December 18th, 2017 at 10 pm.
