Shudder, AMC Networks’ horror-themed streaming service, has revealed that it has picked up the rights to a horror/comedy anthology movie which is called Scare Package. Check out the trailer below:
Chad Buckley is a horror aficionado, and he’s lonely. Chad spends his days at his struggling genre video store arguing with his only regular customer, Sam. When an unsuspecting applicant shows up, Chad begins to teach him about the rules of horror and his video store at large, much to the chagrin of Sam. During Chad’s on-boarding process, we weave in and out of different hilarious horror shorts, each one geared at a different set of horror tropes. As this new applicant learns the ropes, he begins to suspect Chad of something sinister, but we quickly learn that he may have a secret of his own.
The movie will feature seven “gleefully ghoulish tales from a range of horror subgenres.” The cast for the movie includes Noah Segan (Knives Out), Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie), Chase Williamson (Beyond the Gates), Jocelyn DeBoer (Greener Grass), Jeremy King (Camera Obscura), wrestling legend Dustin Rhodes, Toni Trucks (SEAL Team), Hawn Tran (Watchmen), and more.
Emily Gotto, Shudder’s Director of Global Acquisitions and Co-Production, said in a statement:
“We are delighted to introduce a new generation of horror voices in this smart, funny, gory, ode to horror that is Scare Package.”
Koontz said had this to say:
“People say this often, but we mean it: This truly is a movie made by horror fans, for horror fans. And we have the tears, sweat and 40+ gallons of blood to prove it. So, to be able to partner this love-letter with Shudder was a dream come true and hopefully can be a wild and hilarious distraction in our newly confined times.”
The series includes a distinct group of up-and-coming genre filmmakers that covers the directing debuts of actors Segan and Vaughn, Emily Hagins (Netflix’s Coin Heist), Anthony Cousins (The Bloody Ballad of Squirt Reynolds), Chris McInroy (Bad Guy #2, Death Metal), Courtney and Hillary Andujar (Bloodline), and Koontz.
Scare Package will air on Shudder in the U.S., Canada, and the UK on June 18th. Check out the trailer below.
