How to choose LED Recessed Lighting?

When you decided to adopt the LED Recessed Lighting, there are some important specifications through which you can choose the best LED recessed light. These specifications are its size, type, color combination, brightness, and quality of light and beam angle.

Size:

Downlights are different in size but usually, these are available in 4- 6 inches. This section of sizes will depend on the best suitable solution according to space and light requirements. Many small light sizes have more brightness and beam spread as compared to large size LEDs.

One of the best options to choose the size of the light is to check the consistency of light with already used LED lights in the house.  It will give you an idea to choose the size of light according to your brightness requirement.

Second, the most important technique is to check the area of the room. If the rooms are larger with tall ceilings, defiantly, choosing the 6 inches light size is the best selection. On the other hand, if you have sloped ceilings, you should choose 4-inch adjustable lights because these are less obtrusive.

Types of LEDs:

There are two primary types of LED recessed lights which are fixed Recessed lights and adjustable recessed lights. Fixed recessed lights lens sits recessed inside the trim and did not move. While on the other hand, in adjustable recessed lighting the inside lens can be moved inside the trim up to 35 degrees.

There are two more types of LED recessed lights which are Ultra-thin or slim recessed lights and fully adjustable recessed elbow lights. Ultra-thin lights are a new type of light which don’t have housing around the trim. This type of light can be used anywhere with ease. The downside type of these lights creates unwanted glare due to its lens which sits flush with the ceiling. On the other hand, fully adjustable or elbow recessed lights have a function to adjust about 75 degrees and its lenses can be rotated 360 degrees. These types of lights are more suitable for accent and artwork.

Now the question arises which type is suitable for which type of ceiling. The flat ceiling used the fixed recessed lights type in general. Adjustable recessed lights are used when there is a need to enlighten an object or wall of accent. If you are directly under the lights, ultra-thin recessed lights are the best option for those rooms.

When there is a sloped ceiling, adjustable recessed lights can be used in general because these can be directed downward, rather than following the angle of light.

Color temperature:

Correlated color temperature is the original color appearance of the white light which is measure in Kelvins. there are different color of lighting options for examaple2700K warm white, 3000K soft white, Natural white 3500K, bright white 400K, and daylight 5000K, etc. you can choose among these according to your requirements.

Brightness:

LED recessed lights brightness is measured in Lumens, not in watts. Don’t confuse them. Some Leeds uses more or fewer watts to produces the same amount of lumens. Usually in house, 600 lumens led lights are sufficient to fulfill the brightness need. For tall ceilings, 900 lumens led light is more suitable. If you have installed the dimmer switch with led lights, the higher the lumens, the higher the brightness.

Quality of light:

Color rendering index measures the light’s ability to display colors correctly in comparison to the natural light source or ideal condition. Using light that has a higher CRI will lead to the best results of colors. The red lights which have the CRI 90 of above are the best for use.

Beam Angle:

Mostly, Led recessed lights to have a wider beam angle typically above 90 degrees. This is great for spreading the light but if the beam angle is too wide, it may cause excessive glare at the ceiling? Currently, there are not too many options is available in beam angle.
