Universal Pictures revealed the new and final trailer for director Sam Mendes’s upcoming World War I movie, 1917. This film looks incredible, and it’s one I’ve been waiting for and energized to see since it was first revealed. It looks like Mendes has made a spectacular movie that tells an astonishing and inspiring story.
The movie was shot in a way to make it look like the entire story was told in one consecutive shot. It’s the most ambitious feat, but from what I’ve heard from people that have seen the movie, the creative team managed to flawlessly pull it off.
Mendes is the same filmmaker that previously brought us Skyfall, Spectre, American Beauty, and Road to Perdition. He also gathered together a great cast that includes Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Andrew Scott.
Here is the synopsis for the film:
At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers—Blake’s own brother among them.
1917 is set to get a limited release on December 25th, 2019 and will go world wide on January 10th, 2020.
