In 1999, Prince Warned Us About the Internet and the Battle for the Soul

1999 was a different time, but even back then some people saw the power—and possible danger of the Internet. Now here’s a piece that sounds impossible today: At the Second Annual Yahoo Internet Life Magazine Online Music Awards, Prince took home the award for “Best Internet Only Single” for his song, ‘War’.

During his acceptance speech, he advised people “not the be fooled by the Internet” and that “there’s a war going on, the battlefield is the mind, and the prize is the soul”.
