Monster House man Gil Kenan is directing the new take on the story of a family (led by Rosemarie DeWitt and Sam Rockwell) who move into what they think will be their dream home, only for it to turn into a horrific nightmare of malevolent spirits and – if writer David Lindsay Abaire channels Tobe Hooper’s original – child endangerment.

Harris is set to play a man named Carrigan who has made his name by switching from the dusty halls of academia to presenting one of those nonsensical ghost hunter shows where overenthusiastic types with infrared cameras and electromagnetic detectors claim to detect spirits.

Given what’s going to happen in the film it would seem the host and his Haunted House Cleaners team will get a little more than they usually bargain for…

Kenan is set to kick off shooting soon in Toronto, with Fox and MGM aiming at a 2014 release date.
